. If you want more beauty tips and trend hauls, listen to her podcast, Too Niche!Born in the most east side of the San Gabriel Valley and living as far west as Malibu, I find that beauty was always a favorite topic at the dinner table. Have you heard of the salmon sperm facial? Are you on Beauty of Joseon TikTok? I heard exosomes are the new PRP! It’s a conversation I will never get bored with, as I’m always researching for the best of the best.
I recently tried a lymphatic sculpting facial at Skin Worship with Jackie Park —it changed the shape of my face and left it sore for days. The process released so much stress on my jaw and defined it. Jackie also showed me how to do this with my fingers at home and posted about her Korean lymphatic method. I love how instant the results are (and all the compliments on my “glow” lately)! All you need are your fingers and a good face oil.

When searching for a face oil, I discovered Gentle Being, started by Reiki healer and mom
. Eve’s face oil checked all my boxes: small business, women-owned, natural ingredients made intentionally with detail and care! Eve is also my guest for this Substack post on skincare routines! Before we get into your skincare routine, can you tell us a little about you and your skin?
Eve: Amy, thank you so much for including me and Gentle Being in this conversation! My love for skincare started early — from testing fruit-scented lip balms at our local organic health food store as a child (banana-coconut was my favorite!), to devouring beauty recommendations in Nylon and Teen Vogue, to exploring luxury beauty counters, and later becoming obsessed with Into The Gloss. I've always found beauty inspiring — both to understand my skin's needs and to support its journey.
My skincare trajectory changed in my early thirties after having my first son. I developed persistent postpartum acne, which was particularly upsetting since I had dealt with ongoing internal health issues for years prior. Despite trying countless mainstream and high-end products, nothing seemed to help. By 35, as more physical symptoms appeared, I reached an all-time health low. A realization surfaced — I innately knew that all the symptoms, including the acne, were connected. This revelation led me to seek holistic solutions.
I became Reiki trained, developed my intuitive gifts, and discovered how to support my health through clean living and mindful practices. Healing foods became central to my journey, alongside removing chemical-based products from my life. Through careful experimentation, I discovered which pure, natural ingredients could support my sensitive skin without causing irritation. While protecting my family from toxins, I fell in love with the power of botanicals.

As I learned more about specific plants, herbs, butters, and oils, I began creating custom skincare blends for our family. The results were so transformative that friends and family started requesting their own. That's how Gentle Being was born — from my personal healing journey and desire to create skincare that's both gentle and effective, combined with my love for luxurious, high-quality ingredients and divine natural scents.
Amy: My skin has also changed so much in my 30s! It’s more sensitive and has more texture. I’m planning on having children soon and am so grateful you did all this research and created a holistic product. I’m currently using it every day. I love how light and nourishing it is —perfect for spring!
Do you know if you are a routine person based on your human design? If the top left arrow on your chart points to the left, you’re a routine person.
Eve: Mine faces the right! So I shouldn’t follow a strict routine and instead be more adaptable.
Amy: Me too! Routines drain me, so I tend to follow my energy for what I need that day.

Eve: Realizing that my human design confirms my need for adaptability makes perfect sense — I can easily feel trapped energetically and mentally when confined to strict routines. Instead, I find myself naturally craving variation, which feels both inspiring and exciting.
With certain aspects of my life, like skincare or my morning wellness routine, when I introduce elements that make these routines feel special and less mundane, they transform into mindful, magical, healing rituals that leave me feeling inspired. I may light a candle and play soothing frequency music while showering and applying skincare for a home spa experience, drink my morning cold-pressed juice by the fire in winter months or while sun-healing in nature during warmer months, or experiment with various combinations of herbs in potent daily healing infusions.
With Gentle Being skincare, I wanted to create products that not only support the skin with all-natural, pure ingredients but also serve as multipurpose solutions that simplify life through a minimal, adaptable approach. This creates space to apply them more mindfully — instead of using separate products for cleansing, eye cream, face moisturizer, and body moisturizer, you can use our All Oil or All Balms to cleanse, hydrate, and moisturize your entire body with just one or two products. With a focus on natural healing ingredients, the intention centers on deep reverence and care for your body's needs — a ritual act of self-love in applying and using them, with compassionate awareness for yourself and those you share them with.
Amy: As a neurodivergent person with some classic ADHD traits, I get overwhelmed by “12-step” routines. It’s so cool that your oil can be used for both cleansing and moisturizing the face and body! I love how you reframe routines and transform them into a healing ritual!
What are your favorite skincare rituals right now? Any must-try products for spring?
Eve: My day and nighttime skincare rituals are simple yet effective. I begin by gently oil cleansing my face with Gentle Being All Oil and a warm (not hot) washcloth to remove makeup, sweat, and debris while hydrating my skin. This oil cleansing method allows built-up dirt and oils to be removed without stripping the skin's natural oil balance or harming its microbiome. Next, I mist our Peace Hydrosol to prep my skin and help products absorb better. In the morning, I often skip the oil cleanse and instead just use a few mists of Peace Hydrosol with a cotton round to wipe away any dirt. Finally, I apply either All Balm or All Balm Light (both equally moisturizing and effective) for hydration and a protective skin barrier. It's a minimal yet nurturing ritual that I follow day and night!

Once a week or so, I do a detoxing, exfoliating, and tightening face mask with our Purity Mask powder mixed with Peace Hydrosol or raw Manuka honey. It leaves my skin so fresh and glowing! I also try to gua sha when my skin is clear for lymphatic drainage and lifting, or do some gentle face and lymph massage. Being in the super busy phase of mom life with young children, I dream of having more time to incorporate other skincare practices like infrared, acupressure, and holistic facials.
The other products I use daily is my essential oil deodorant from Living Libations, their Poetic Pits in either the Classic scent or Radiant Earth. Both double as dreamy, earthy perfumes. I also use my favorite Forest Bath natural bar soap for pits and privates from a local apothecary, and unscented shampoo and conditioner bars.
Occasionally, I'll layer on a spot treatment or vitamin C serum — I love Living Libations Dew Dab for spots and Marie Veronique's line of serums. I also use my at-home Healy frequency device with micro-current to support my skin's youthfulness and aid with blemishes and scars.
Amy: Your purity mask powder sounds amazing (and gentle) for exfoliating. I’m currently using a gel-like moisturizer with AHA and BHA that BURNS my skin. Probably should stop because I don’t love the sensation but it was so expensive that I want to finish the bottle. Sounds like you love Living Libations! I’ve used their cleansing oil in the past and need to try their serums!
As neurodivergent infodumping is one of my love languages, I would love to share my current skincare rituals and favorite products:
When I wake up, I wipe off any lashes or dried tears from my face with a Bebesup baby wipe on Amazon (ugh I know I’ll try to find a different brand after I finish this pack). I read ages ago that you don’t need to wash your face in the morning, and decided that’s the life I want. I recently read it’s very millennial-core to use makeup wipes and I wonder if anyone else out there uses baby wipes (I like that it’s more gentle and affordable).
If I go outside that day, I put on sunscreen —Black Girl Sunscreen when I’m downstairs, Elta MD when I’m upstairs. If I feel like my skin needs it, I’ll also add the Ole Henriksen undereye cream and Sulwhasoo’s emulsion, which I use as a light moisturizer.
My nighttime skincare ritual is most important to me. I shower 2-3x a week and use Hanskin’s cleansing oil or balm to clean my face. If you’re new to cleansing balms and oils, just rub the balm or oil on dry skin and then wash it off in the shower! I’ve used Hanskin products for years and think it’s the best cleanser (and super affordable). Once my skin is clean, I use the Gentle Being All Oil for the lymphatic massage I mentioned earlier. Lately, I’ve used the leftover products on my hands to give my husband Dan a face and Reiki massage. Dan learned energy healing through massage when he spent a few months in Mexico. He taught me to follow our breath and focus on areas that heat up (this is the same technique I use to pick my tarot cards)!
Thank you so much Eve for being my guest this month! It was so fun getting to know you and sharing our spring skincare rituals and staples! I’m so honored to learn more about your process and how you created my favorite face oil!
